CastleRush Standard ruleset – Age of Empires II Table of Contents Table of Contents Contact & Questions Registration & Seeding Check-In & Scheduling One-day tournaments Playing a set Lobby settings In-Game Rules Admin Decisions Sportsmanship Disconnections & Technical Issues Cheating & Exploits Streaming Casting Prize Payout Contact & Questions The following rules are here to ensure a smooth and pleasant experience for everyone. By signing-up to the tournament, you certify that you have read those rules and agree to follow them. All players are responsible for making sure the settings are correct. The admins make the final decisions, and can overrule the handbook in specific cases. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to contact them via the discord server. Registration & Seeding Signing-up and registering on the CastleRush site is required to participate in any event. Players are permitted one account only. Attempts to switch accounts, create multiple accounts, or otherwise circumvent this policy are not allowed and will result in a permanent ban from the site and all future CastleRush events. If you have an issue regarding your account that needs to be addressed, please contact an admin. The seeding method will be specific to each event, but the most common one is the average between highest and current Elo on the 1v1 ranked ladder. The admins reserve the right to make manual adjustments based on various observations (high winrate, performance in other tournaments). Check-In & Scheduling The time zone used for scheduling and communication is UTC/GMT by default if not shown otherwise on the page. Players must be in the game lobby and ready to begin their draft/match at the scheduled playing time. If not provided otherwise, the next match is to be started ASAP. Tournaments can have a check-in period: registered players have to log into the website, go to the tournament page and click the Check-in button before the deadline. Failure to do so will have you rejected from the tournament. If the late check-in option is used by the admins, there will be an additional time after that for other players to do a last minute sign-up, to fill up the vacant spots. Check-in can only be done by captains. One-day tournaments One-day tournaments are tournaments where all the sets are played back-to-back, and are usually expected to last for 6 hours maximum. In order to ensure a smooth progress, players are asked to check-in for their next set within a fixed amount of time (usually between 5 and 20 minutes, fixed by the tournament admins in the settings) after it becomes available (they or their opponent(s) just finished the previous round). If any player has not readied up before the timer ends, that player/team forfeits the set. Both parties are responsible for paying attention to the status of their matches. Example: a single elimination CastleRush Clash tournament: P1vP3 and P2vP4, if P1 wins their set first, the timer will not start until P2vP4 has concluded; once P2vP4 finishes, both P1 and P2 (the winners) have 15 minutes to get into a new lobby and ready up. Playing a set When it’s time for a set, you should be able to find and click on it on the website. This will bring you to a lobby with your opponents, where you can chat, confirm that you’re ready to play, and start drafting. Once the drafts are completed, the host should create an in-game lobby, which will be automatically detected (if not put on private). The other players will only have to click the Join button. Every game is hidden pick no repeat when it comes to civilisations: each player can choose one of their drafted civilisations that hasn’t been played in the set beforehand. Once a game is finished, you can simply hit the Rematch button or remake a lobby for the next one. The loser(s) of the previous game can choose the map to be played out of all the remaining ones. The results of the games should be automatically tracked and updated for each set. The players can check it and correct it if needed. The result of all the sets should be available on the tournament page, including the drafts. Lobby settings When creating the lobby, please make sure to check the same options as in the screenshots (except for the map obviously). The server should be discussed and chosen between the players to the fairest available. If none fit, then the players can alternate servers between games. In case no compromise is being reached, please contact an admin. In-Game Rules Breaks: players are expecting to start the next game of a set within 5 minutes after finishing the previous one, and the first one within 10 minutes after finishing the draft(s). Players are entitled and encouraged to take a 15 minutes break every 3 games (or after particularly long games,if both parties agree to it). Delays might be punished by an Admin Loss, unless for proper reasons and clearly communicated to the opponent(s). Pausing: players are allowed 3 pauses each per game with a maximal time limit of ~2 minutes, if a player needs to pause for longer than this please contact an admin. Players are required to confirm with their opponent (or captain with captain in a team game) before unpausing. Laming: CastleRush currently has no rules against laming, except for Nomad-start maps (see below). Slinging: CastleRush currently has no rules against slinging. Nomad starts: (starts without a Town Center) for the first 3 in-game minutes Players may steal but not attack enemy herdables Players may not wall-in enemy units or buildings Players may not build their first Town Center within firing range of an opponent’s Town Center (if that happens unintentionally, the game is to be restarted) Players may not lame wild animals; it is only considered laming if less than 35 food is taken from the carcass (for foxes, if the villager doesn’t take all the gold possible). Wrong civilisation: if an ineligible civilisation has been picked by a player, the game is to be restarted right away and the opponent(s) choose which civilisation should be played instead, out of the pool of available ones. If the mistake is only noticed at the end, the game should be replayed; if not possible (noticed later in the set, running out of time), please contact an admin right away. The other party should be entitled to an Admin Win, although the players are encouraged to discuss and agree on a fair resolution, in all sportsmanship. Wrong settings: if the in-game settings are noticed to be wrong at the start of the game, it should be restarted with the correct ones. If the mistake is noticed later in the game (in the middle or at the end), please contact an admin. It is likely that the result will be kept as is. Admin Decisions Players are responsible to contact an admin in case of a breach of rules or other issues. If for any reason an admin cannot be reached, players should continue to play and wait as appropriate. An admin will follow up as soon as possible, and this may result in outcomes being reviewed or reversed if deemed necessary. Admins may restart a game at any time under any circumstance if deemed necessary for the flow and fairness of the game. All rulings by admins are final. Disputes must be raised in a timely and respectful manner. Contacting the admin team can be done via the discord server. Sportsmanship All participants, broadcasters, and admins are expected to show good sportsmanship and be respectful of all other parties at all times. This applies to behavior in-game, on Discord, and in chats, messengers, comments, and other media. Any behavior that violates the Age of Empires Code of Conduct or Xbox Community Standards will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to insults, racism, sexism, bad sportsmanship, and excessive use of aggressive or disrespectful language. Any instances of misconduct or harassment will be taken very seriously and should immediately be brought to the attention of the admins. All types of competition manipulation hindering competition integrity will not be tolerated. Team names chosen by captains are required to follow the Age of Empires Code of Conduct and Xbox Community Standard- violating this will cause that team to be disqualified from the event- particularly any vulgar, sexual, racist or any other form of inappropriate language. Disconnections & Technical Issues In the case of a game crash or de-synchronization, an admin will assess the situation and decide whether the game should be restored or restarted. In either case, players must exit the game without revealing the map and are not permitted to go back and watch the recording before re-hosting. Players can request a restart in situations where their map is bugged or otherwise failed to generate in the intended way. The restart must be called during the first four minutes of in-game time. After a restart, civilizations and colors must remain the same. Bugged maps include (but aren’t limited to) missing or blocked resources. Repeated technical issues are the responsibility of the player. Intentional disconnections to avoid a loss will result in a forfeit. If a player disconnects/drops they have 10 minutes to reconnect. If they are unable to appear in a lobby and ready up for a restart or restore within 10 minutes of the disconnect/drop they forfeit the remainder of the set. Cheating & Exploits Intentionally utilizing any bugs, glitches, or errors in the game is not allowed. In instances where bugs are utilized, the admins will decide whether the match should be restarted, replayed, or forfeited. This could lead to disqualification and/or a ban from future events. Macros, defined as external software or applications that emulate the use of multiple keys by using only one, are prohibited. Graphical mods available in the mod center are allowed. Players should contact an admin for any uncertainty about what is considered an exploit. Streaming Spectators must be enabled with a 2-minute spectator delay. This includes but is not limited to stream sniping, spectator cheating, and communicating with stream chat or voice chat. Players who choose to stream their own point of view do so at their own discretion and assume full responsibility for any consequences that result from streaming live with no delay. Players who stream their Point Of View are required to disable and hide their chat and any TTS during the game. Casting Casters should have a !castlerush chat command included in the title, triggering a message with the following information: tournament organised and hosted by the CastleRush team, a link to the website (CastleRush.org) Optional but preferred: using an officially supplied CastleRush Logo on screen or in between games. Prize Payout If a tournament does pay out prizes and a player is eligible to win a prize, the player or the team captain has to open up a ticket on the official Discord within 2 weeks, under the category of “Competition Prize Payout”. The winner is expected to share the required personal information to be able to receive the prize. If the player fails to provide the payment information within the mentioned timeframe, they are no longer entitled to their prize winnings. Prizes will be paid out within 4 weeks after the 2-week notice schedule. The organizer offers 2 different channels to receive prize payouts Bank Transfer - If you are part of the European Union and got a European bank account, this is the easiest and fastest way. Please include the following information in the ticket to receive your prize: your full legal name, current residing address (based on the one in your bank account), IBAN and BIC. PayPal - If you prefer receiving your money through a transfer service or you are not living within the European Union, please include the following information: your full legal name, your PayPal email address.
